Firing Service

Work will not be accepted, unless the Firing Service form has been completed, for every type of firing you require (e.g. stoneware, bisque, earthernware & midfire) and indicating that you have read and agreed to our firing guidelines.

Any part of your work that will touch the kiln shelf MUST be clean (underglaze exempt) otherwise it will stick to the kiln shelf during firing. As outlined in the T&C's you will be responsible for the cost of repair/replacement of the kiln shelf.
If your pieces are NOT BONE DRY - they must not be brought in for Firing. Wet pieces WILL explode in the kiln. Please check with our staff if you are unsure.

Terms and Conditions

Please do not ask the kiln technician when your work is going in/coming out of the kiln, or ask for your work to be put in first. Stacking a kiln requires balancing different shapes and sizes of work to ensure it is full and air circulates properly. This will impact what work goes into the kiln on each day.

If your work fills an entire kiln by itself you will be asked to hire a private kiln. Our general firing service is not designed for production potters. Large quantities of plates or large sculptures may take longer than the maximum 14 days.
Especially for Bisque firing, if your work is not labelled it is very difficult to find on the collection shelves. If you do not have a maker's mark there are underglaze pencils located at the front desk which you can label your work with.
