Learn the ancient techniques of handbuilding with an experienced tutor.
In this six week course you will learn the the fundamental hand building skills of pinching, coiling and slab building.
Using these techniques you will create a range of forms, varying from functional ware to sculptural, and experiment with techniques to explore texture and surface decoration. This course is an ideal introduction to experimenting with various handbuilding techniques, and no previous experience is required. Each class will have a maximum of 10 students. At the completion of the course students will have their own decorated and glazed work to take home and use.
The cost of this course includes one bag of clay, use of tools, firing, and all materials for decorating and glazing. Our pottery supply shop stocks a wide variety of products should you wish to explore further, and staff are always happy to help guide you.
Please bring along your own towel and apron. Covered shoes are essential.

Week 5 – Decorating Techniques: Underglazes & Tissue Transfers
Week 6 – Ceramics 101 with Ray Laurens and Dip Glazing & Decoration
After the completion of the course work takes 2-3 weeks to be fired. Students will be emailed when work is ready for collection.
