Description
Our education program is currently on hold due to the Covid-10 outbreak. We will resume scheduling workshops once it is safe to do so.
In this 2,5 hour workshop participants will be introduced to a variety of handbuilding techniques to create a range of handmade flatware- dishes, plates, trays, salt dishes etc.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and for those looking to create flatware without the use of the pottery wheel, focusing on the free-form and organic qualities that handbuilding can offer. This workshop will focus on using slabs to create flatware. Different techniques for making slabs will be demonstrated – rolling, ‘throwing’ slabs, in addition to cutting, refining, creating rims and applying textures.
The Handbuilding Flatware workshop will use stoneware clay and students can choose up to three works created to be glazed and fired (as a group participants can choose two glazes from our class set). Work will take approximately three weeks to be ready for collection.
Please bring along your own apron.
