Each Intermediate Handbuilding class will have a maximum of 10 participants.

This six week course is designed to extend on handbuilding skills for students who have completed our Beginner’s Handbuilding Course.

You will explore how to construct large 3D sculptural and composite forms and vessels with different decorating techniques, and implementing design process into your practice.

The cost of this course includes:

  • one bag of clay (fine stoneware)
  • use of wheel and tools
  • bisque & glaze firing
  • all materials for decorating and glazing.

This course will have a maximum of 10 students.

Please bring along your own apron. Covered shoes are essential.


Course Guide

Week 1 & 2 – Composite forms and vessels created with pinch and coil techniques.

Week 3 & 4 – Slab built vessels made to your own designed pattern.

Week 5 – Extended Decorating Techniques including Underglazes & Tissue Transfers and Sgraffito and Wax Resist

Week 6 – Dip Glazing & Decoration

After the completion of the course work takes 2-4 weeks to be fired. Students will be emailed when work is ready for collection.
