Join us for the unique opportunity to learn organic and experimental handbuilding with former Guest Artist in Residence Kohl Tyler-Dunshea!

Across two sessions you will discover Kohl’s experimental slab-coiling technique to create your own handbuilt nature-inspired vessel or form. Learn how to make and employ supports to assist in weight distribution while hand-building and explore surface detailing methods such as carving, pinching and sculpting for a decorative finish.
In her practice Kohl Tyler contemplates notions of ephemerality, interconnectedness and one’s place within the cosmos. Drawing inspiration from both physical and phenomenal elements of the natural world she processes her ecological grief, making work that posits future ecologies, imagined organic remnants or attempts to archive fleeting biodiversity. This short course is an incredible opportunity to gain insight into the practice of an exciting emerging artist.

The cost of this course includes one bag of Clayworks Sculptural Fine clay per person (you can take home any left over clay), all tools required, and the firing and glazing of your pieces to collect at a later date.

Please note this workshop is run over two evenings, and you must be able to attend both sessions to book into the course.

This workshop is for adults aged 18+ only. Teenagers aged 11+ may attend if they are booked in with a participating adult. Participants who do not meet the minimum age requirements will not be permitted to take part in the class and no refunds are available on the day.
